Saddle Trial Policy

Congratulations on your decision to purchase a saddle!  We understand that an important part of your decision regarding which particular saddle to purchase is to verify not only its proper fit on your horse but also to determine both its comfort and correct fit for you as the rider.
In an effort to help you with these decisions we do allow trials on our new, demo and used saddles.  In return for this accommodation you hereby acknowledge and agree to assume full responsibility for your safety when using a trial saddle, as well as the condition of any saddle you take on trial.  The length of a trial and allowed usage of a trial saddle varies dependent upon whether the saddle is new, demo or used, and is detailed below.  
Customer Responsibilities and Trial Period
Skylands Saddlery will charge your credit card for the full amount of the saddle(s) to go out on trial and for all shipping & handling charges.  You are responsible for all outgoing and return shipping charges.  Shipping to you is $34.95 for the first saddle, plus $10.00 for one additional saddle within the same shipment.  All saddles are sent UPS Ground, unless otherwise specified.  You are responsible for any additional charges associated with expediting the shipment.  All shipping charges are non-refundable. 

Skylands Saddlery makes every attempt to keep saddle availability accurate.  In the event that a saddle has been recently sold and has not yet been taken off any advertised space or has been taken on trial, your inquiry for that saddle will be responded to via email or by provided phone number with twenty-four (24) hours of you contacting us.   When and if the saddle does come back to Skylands Saddlery and is available for trial and if you are the next on our wait list, we will notify you and put the saddle on hold on your behalf for 24 hours from the time of our notification to you.


It is your responsibility to call Skylands Saddlery at (908) 782-1944 by the end of the trial use time period to indicate whether or not you desire to purchase the saddle.  If we do not hear from you within said time period we will consider the saddle purchased.  

 

A used saddle not being purchased must be received back in our store within fifteen (15) days from the date Skylands shipped to you and must be in the same condition as it was when it left our store.

 

A new or demo saddle not being purchased must be received back in our store within nine (9) days from the date Skylands shipped to you and must be in the same condition as it was when it left our store.

 

As the Customer, it is your responsibility to verify the scope of a manufacturer’s warranty on any new saddles purchased from Skylands Saddlery.  Please be advised that Skylands Saddlery does NOT provide any warranty for new saddles purchased from Skylands Saddlery.

Limitations on saddle usage and wear:
New Saddles:
On all new saddles we ask that you wrap all stirrups leathers with tube socks, cellophane or another soft material, please NO Vet Wrap.
 
Wear Short riding boots (no half chaps, chaps or zippers)
 
Please do not put leathers through keepers, contain them within the sock or soft material.
 
Please use discretion when mounting or dismounting, taking care not to rub zippers, or objects on saddle (this will help to prevent accidental damages)
 
Saddles returned with excessive wear are subject to a usage surcharge, to be determined by us on the basis of the returned condition. We understand that saddles will be girthed and expect to see billet marks.
